MAJOR HOSPITAL SYSTEM IN NEW YORK CITY
This hospital system is one of the nation’s premier academic medical centers. Located in the heart of Manhattan, with over 500 facilities in the New York City area, this medical center consists of 6 inpatient locations.
Over 32,000 fixtures throughout the 5 boroughs and Long Island of the offsite medical offices/satellite facilities were updated to LED technology resulting in total savings of $569,551 and nearly 3 million kWh with an attractive 2.6 year payback. The $1.4 million LED installations across nearly 100 facilities were completed in little more than a year’s time. The majority of the audits and installations were done off hours; mostly nights, resulting in minimal disruption to the staff. In addition to the energy savings and reduced electric costs, the upgrade significantly reduces maintenance costs; allowing the facilities staff to tend to more pressing needs than changing out lamps.
Pearl Street Systems is on track to evaluate and complete all off sites to LED technology and helping this medical center reduce their carbon footprint and make for a more attractive experience for their patients.
There were minimal change orders for these projects and the overall feedback from the staff was positive.
