PRINCETON UNIVERSITY

Since 2013, Pearl Street Systems provided the engineering and lighting design for Princeton’s campus-wide LED upgrade program.

The project covers well over 200,000 lighting fixtures and over 10 million square feet of buildings.

Our services to Princeton included the development of an LED lighting upgrade master plan, IGLA’s (Investment Grade Lighting Audits) for all buildings, upgrade solution development, technology assessment, RFP (Request for Proposal) development, detailed lighting designs, utility rebate management and bid reviews.

The signature project of the the program was the LED lighting upgrade of the 7,000-seat 250,000 square foot Jadwin Gymnasium.

This project included the replacement of (840) 400 watt metal halide fixtures with LED models. The new fixtures are equipped with wireless controls and over 12 preset scenes were developed for various sports and other activities. The LEDs even offer an up-light component so that the architectural ceilings stay properly illuminated. Energy usage was reduced by over 70% and the project will recover its investment in less than 6 years. The project also received a utility incentive of $125,000. Pearl Street performed this challenging lighting design (with the building’s curved roofs) utilizing computer modeling to inure that light the design light levels and uniformity would be met.

With Pearl Street Systems, all our services are performed “in-house”
